Goats for Sale (updated July 2, 2012)
Milk Goats
Kidding season has begun here at Joyful Goat, and it is a bit of a goat circus already! We have some adorable quality kids for sale from excellent milking lines that also produce nice, solid pack animals with excellent temperaments. Many have been sired by our three-time Grand Champion buck, Wailatpuu Galen. Kids can be reserved from specific does, and likewise does are available to be reserved before they kid. We currently have four does for sale that will be available as family milk does. Does in milk are $175-$200, depending on the doe. Kids are $75 for bucklings and $125 for doelings. Several of each are currently available but generally don't last long.
Packing Goats
We also have some wonderful yearling wethers that were bottle-babies, so are very tame and easy to handle, and started on trails on daily hikes for goatpacking. These boys are quiet, gentle and make excellent companions. These boys are $125, which is a steal considering it costs $100 in goat milk replacer to raise a kid to weaning, and they are already disbudded (dehorned) and vaccinated/wormed to date.
CURRENTLY AVAILABLE:
One Boer cross wether, two years old; big and gentle, short, very small horns but never uses them on people or goats; named Obi
One Alpine two year old wether, tall and disbudded (no horns), a lovely tri-color named Snickers
One nearly two year old Oberhasli disbudded (dehorned) wether named Surprise
Any combination of two of these wethers is available for $200
Matched set of three purebred Oberhasli boys, yearlings, all by the same buck; lovely coloring, beautiful horns, $500 for all three together
Meat Goats
Two Boer meat goat young breeding does available, $150 each, or $175 with a free breeding to buck of your choice here on the farm before leaving. $10/wk board/feed charge until bred.
Breeding Goats
Our three-time Grand Champion buck Wailatpuu Galen is also available to a breeding or show home. Once called "long as a limousine" by a show judge, Galen has that nice stretch of body, elegant refined head, and easygoing attitude, having produced many beautiful, correct kids, and has a reputation among those who have bought his kids for producing a 'bottle-baby temperament in dam-raised kids'--which translates to a savings of time in dealing with easy-to-work-with kids when vaccinating, deworming, hoof trimming, and goatpacking. He is remarkably easy to handle for a buck, even in rut. Galen is $400, and you will find, as we did, that he will pay for himself in the first breeding season.
Buy more, save more!
Anyone purchasing three or more goats will enjoy the added benefit of a 10-percent discount on the total price. This excludes milk does.
